Comfort for Anxious Moments!

Feelings! They are a very important element in the life of an individual. Our emotions at times can dictate how we manage what is happening around us. When we love what is happening; we are happy. When what is happening is  not what we desire, then we are sad.

Happiness is dependent on what is happening around us. But is it possible to be in the midst of  unpleasant circumstances and not walk around sad and depressed? That brings us to another emotion: joy. The dictionary tells us that joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. But joy that would keep you balanced in the midst of pain need to be more. In Psalms 94:19 HCSB, David said, “When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.” So joy for people of faith must be different. That joy is a result of what is happening on the inside. It is the result of Jesus Christ living on the inside, the Holy Spirit working in us while we hide God’s word in our heart.

Is your life an emotional rollercoaster?  It doesn’t have to be that way. We all go through periods of pain and anguish, but we do not have to set up camp and live there. “. . . Weeping may last for the night, but there is a song of joy in the morning.” (Psalms 30:5 GW). Yes, that kind of joy comes from Jesus Christ living on the inside changing our response to what is happening on the outside. If you desire, He will quiet your anxious moments.

Thought for Today: Friend, the joy of the Lord makes a difference.
