God’s Wonderful Provision

One of the most challenging issues a leader or anyone in general can face is ungratefulness. It’s difficult to give your best and watch the recipients trample on your goodness and kindness. After God delivered the children of Israel, they behaved just like that! When hunger invaded their lives, they started to complain as they remembered all the meat they ate in Egypt. (Exodus 16:2).

In Exodus 16:4 NLT God responded:  “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.” Wow! What a gracious God. I’m not sure I could have or would gave been so gracious to people who were openly ungrateful and disrespectful. But that is why He is God. They complained about a lack of bread and God didn’t give them flour and an oven, He gave them bread from heaven.

God promised them daily provision. When Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray, He prayed, “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11 NKJV). We need natural food daily for living. We have breakfast and dinner every day of the week. In the same way, we need the bread that comes from God daily. Yesterday’s bread cannot satisfy today’s hunger. So let us spend time with God daily so that we can partake of this daily bread to satisfy the hunger in our souls.

Thought for Today: Friend, God provides bread daily; take as much as you need.
