Henry Drummond said, “Will power does not change men. Time does not change men. Christ does.” That fact remains the same. When Jesus walked the earth, He changed lives; today when individuals enter a relationship with Jesus, change follows.
One day, Jesus was going through Jericho and a man there, Zaccheaus, wanted to see Him. He was a short man, so it was difficult for him to see Jesus, so he climbed into a tree. Zaccheaus was employed as a tax collector, a job that his community viewed unfavorably. The community saw them as traitors because the Romans employed them to collect taxes from their own people. So, they would inflate the tax for the Romans and keep the extra for themselves. As a result, these tax collectors were wealthy. When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” (Luke 19:5 NLT). Zaccheaus was delighted but the people were unhappy. Jesus’ presence brought change into Zaccheaus’ life. Immediately he began to discuss how to make amends for his sinful actions.
Jesus responded to Zaccheaus; Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Verses 9-10). That was His mission; He is a change agent. The Apostle Paul said it this way: This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus’ mission remains the same; He wants to bring change into your life. What will your answer be?
Thought for Today: Friend, Jesus brings change!
