Children play games that depend on balance. If you run a three-legged race with a partner, both partners must work together with balance and coordination to be successful. It’s fun to play these games as a child but adults need balance in their lives also.
When we look at our lives, at times we can identify that there is an abundance of activity in one and a lack in other. Spring is my favorite season of the year because it’s the season of new beginnings. Spending more time outdoors is affecting my work-rest balance. As a result, my body has a negative reaction: I’m constantly tired because there is not a realistic ratio between work and rest. Sometimes we can become that way with God. We often focus on our desires and neglect time with God. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33 NLT).
There must be balance in our relationship with God; we need to live a that aligns with God’s word and His will. Sometimes, we are so busy running after things that we miss the best thing. When Jesus visited Mary and Martha, we saw to different viewpoints about being in His presence. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet while Martha was doing busy work. There is Martha and Mary in each of us, regardless of age, gender or nationality and we must strive to balance our busy activities and sitting at Jesus’ feet. Martha complained about Mary’s lack of help and Jesus said: “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42).
Thought for Today: Friend, make God’s will your priority.
