What do you do when you find yourself in a difficult situation? People respond in a variety of ways: some seek help from family and friends, some turn to harmful behavior, and others seek God.
David was someone who went to God with his issues. When he was a teenager, he slew the giant Goliath. King Saul was jealous when he heard the women singing songs about David; as a result, Saul decided that David must die. David had to run for his life; while on the run, other men joined him and they formed a group. One day, they returned home to find their wives and children gone; they blamed David and decided to kill him. David didn’t panic; instead, he decided to seek God. Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” (1 Samuel 30:8 NLT). David obeyed and they recovered what was lost; their wives and children were unharmed.
But there was more: they got a bonus because they came back with flocks and herds. When you are in a difficult situation, it’s not the time to panic. God knew before you got there that you would be there and He has already made provision for you. We don’t know His plans, but Paul said it this was in Romans 8:28: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. You too, can recover what was lost.
Thought for Today: Friend, when life is difficult, seek God!
