It’s so encouraging to know that God hears our prayers. Sometimes, as humans, people seem to treat God like a slot machine. They want to put in a few prayers and hit the button and expect a jackpot. Prayed answered! But that is not the way it works. These verses make that clear. There is a condition attached. Verse 14 says whenever you ask for anything that pleases God.
So how do you know when something pleases God? The same way you find out what pleases those around you, you listen to what they say about the matter. It’s the same way with God, you check out His Word. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” So, you must have faith to please God. Also, Psalm 143:10 says,” Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.” Jesus prayed in Matthew 6:10, “May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” When you ask according to His will, He will give you what you ask for.
