When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” John 5:6 NLT
God created human beings to be interdependent. I cannot supply everything I need in my life by my own hands. I go to the supermarket to purchase food and the clothing store to buy clothes. Sometimes the dependence can become more intense when one person is impaired. You become more dependent on others because of your inability to care for yourself adequately. One day Jesus met a man just like that and asked him a simple question, “Would you like to get well?” He responded from his dependent prospective, “I can’t, sir, for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
His life was so shaped by his dependence, that he responded by looking at what he didn’t have. It was a direct question. The response was simple, either yes or no. He didn’t realize that he was talking to the one who was able to make a change in his situation. Like this man, you can become so focused on what you don’t have, that if you are not careful, you can miss the opportunity of a lifetime. Jesus spoke healing in his life both mentally and physically, He said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” You don’t have to live a life of dependence; you too can stand up, pick up your mat, and walk.
Thought for Today: Shake of your dependence
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
