Fear God

But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders. They allowed the boys to live, too. Exodus 1:17 NLT

Wow! These midwives feared God. He was not the god of the Egyptians, He was the God of the enslaved population. The fear that is referred to here is not afraid of, but fear that speaks of honor and respect. They held the God of the Hebrews in such high esteem, that they preferred to disobey Pharaoh than disobey God. So the Pharaoh’s plan to kill all the males did not work.

When it became obvious that the male children were being saved alive, he sent for the midwives. He wanted to know what was happening. They told him that Hebrew women were strong and not like Egyptian women. They deliver very quickly. When they get the message and travel to their home, the baby is already born. They told him it was difficult to kill the little baby boys.

These women served the Hebrew women well because they feared God. But God in His mercy rewarded these women. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.”  At times it might not be popular to honor God where you are. Some might think you are strange, and your position might not be popular. Don’t get discouraged. God rewards those who fear Him.

Thought for Today: Honor God in all you do

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory

  1. These were God-fearing women that had holy respect for God! We too must walk in the fear of the lord in every thing we do. (Even when your position might not be popular don’t get discouraged ) I like that🙌🏽🙌🏽 God bless you Pastor Scott!

  3. The fear of the Lord is one of the most valuable treasures that we can gain, because God is our Creator, and if we are to find true success, we have to live according to His design. He knows what is best for our lives. As we gain wisdom about His ways and choose to value what He values, we will mature as His children and our lives will be blessed.
