But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22 NLT
Parents sometimes speak to their children and complain that they don’t listen. Yes they heard every word but continued as if nothing was said. James, in his role as a church leader, saw something that was quite alarming. It appeared that people were sitting in the pews, hearing the word of God but the word had no impact on their lives.
James went on to say, “For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.” The purpose of looking in a mirror is to bring change. If there is something not quite right then you have the ability to make a change. However if you look and see that adjustments are needed and walk away without adjusting, the mirror served no purpose.
It’s the same way with the word of God; it has the ability to bring change into your life. For example, if you are hungry and you go to a restaurant; you can order a meal; pay for the meal; look at the meal; or smell the aroma of the food on the plate. It is not until you pick up a fork and start eating, would change come to your empty stomach. If you want real change in your life, do what the word says. Change comes as you obey.
Thought for Today: Obey the word and experience change
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
Amen! Let’s make the change for the better and keep the Lord closer in our lives. Change is a good thing.

Change makes a difference. If you exercise, you feel different, if you are consistent you will see a change. Being consistent walking with God will bring about change.
