When the Unthinkable Happens

Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord !” Job 1:20-21 NLT

Every day is another opportunity to experience the blessings of God. You give thanks and begin your activities. Then you get the worst news imaginable. At least, that is what you think. As you stand there, messenger after messenger informs you of the tragedy they witnessed.  When they were done, you’d lost your children and all your earthly possessions. You lived right and walked right,  and in an instant, the life you knew came to a screeching halt. You lost not some things but everything. Even your children were gone! What would be your response?

I hope my initial response would be Job’s response. But I know that as difficult as life can get, God is there with you. When you find yourself faced with those kinds of situations, you understand that God is sovereign. I came to  that understanding when I experienced a loss in my life. It took some time for me to acknowledge the sovereignty of God. Yes it’s hard but Job is right on point. During the difficulties of life: praise the name of the Lord.

Thought for Today: He who controls my today, holds my tomorrow in His hands

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
