The Lord, My Helper

Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel.’ Isaiah 41:14 NLT

There are many situations and circumstances in life that can make you feel small and insignificant. There are many creatures in nature that are seen as having no value. You see the worm and take no notice of it. You might pay more attention to an insect if it bothers you. Yet here God is comparing man to a worm. So if you feel as insignificant as a worm you have no need to fear.

God wants you to know that He does not feel that way about you. He promises help. This is not verbal help without action like the help many offer but help that would make a difference in your life. Hebrews 13:6 says, “So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” If life beats you down and you feel insignificant remember the God of the universe has made Himself available to you. Isaiah 41:15 says, “You will be a new threshing instrument with many sharp teeth. You will tear your enemies apart, making chaff of mountains.” Only God can take a worm and give it sharp teeth that will tear its enemies apart. So don’t allow circumstances to intimidate you; put your trust in God.

Thought for Today: God is your helper

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory

  1. Who can help us in our times of trouble, strife, and emotional unrest? We may have friends we can talk to, parents, siblings, and spouses we can confide in and find comfort. But if we also look to God as our Helper, we can receive greater deliverance from our trials.
