The Goodness of God

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.
Lamentations 3:25 NLT

People of faith depend on the goodness of God. Goodness is a quality most people look for in the way people interact with them. The homeless person living on the street depends on the goodness of strangers. The struggling student depends on the goodness of the teacher to provide extra care and time to become successful in an area where he falls short. Goodness is part of who God is.

When God chose Moses to lead His people from Egypt to the Promised Land, Moses wanted some assurance that God was going with him. In Exodus 33 Moses asked God to show his power. God replied in verse 19, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” If like Moses you want to experience the goodness of God, there are two things you need to do, you can depend on Him and search for Him. It takes faith to depend on or rely on God; when you search for Him, you will experience His goodness.
