Submit and Resist

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7 NKJV

In the world today, there are some things that people just don’t like to do. Submission is one of those things. Children hate it; adults hate it; employees hate it and yes, even people of faith at times, hate it. When you read the Bible, you will see that Jesus practiced submission. When He was about twelve years old, He became separated from His parents. When they found Him, Luke 2:21 says, “Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them.” Simply put, submission is to yield to the authority of another. Jesus submitted to the authority of His parents.

So we are called to submit to God. We need to yield to His authority and obey His commands.  He is our creator and He knows what is best for us. When we submit to God, we are rewarded with peace. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” There are benefits when we submit to God. When you do, and the enemy comes up against you, you can stand firm. “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” Ephesians 6:13  You cannot stand against the enemy in you own strength; you need help from God.

Thought for Today: Submit to God so you can resist.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
