Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so? Amos 3:3 NIV
When friends are traveling with the same destination in mind, they make plans to travel together. They would work on the dates together; select their accommodations together; make their travel arrangements together because they made a decision to travel together. Most of us can understand this question. Now people you know can make plans independently and meet quite by accident on the plane. When you see this question, it’s natural to wonder who asked this question and why. To get some clarity we need to go to the previous verse: “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins.”
These words were directed to those who had a relationship with God. He was not talking to the other nations of the world. He was speaking to His covenant people. Deuteronomy 4:7 says, “What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?” They were in agreement that the Lord was their God. He gave them directives to follow so that they could live and walk in agreement with Him, but they disobeyed. Their disobedience had consequences. The same holds true for us today. We too have directives in the word of God that we need to live by. Since we are in agreement that the Lord is our God we need to do all we can to walk in His way.
