Stay Connected

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.   John 15:4 NKJV

Abide, is not a word that is frequently used anymore. There are many definitions of the word abide. It means to remain stable or fixed; to submit or agree to; to act in accord with. In this verse, abide means to remain or stay around. One thing is evident, this abiding is not a one sided event. Both parties are committed to abiding. This abiding speaks of relationship. When you live in an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, the relationship will produce fruits.

The picture painted here is one of a vine and branches. The vine and the branches are connected and where as the vine can exist independently, the branches cannot. In nature, the roots absorb nutrients from the soil and the nutrients travel through the vine to the branches. So when there is a connection between the branches and the vine, the branch is fruitful as long as it remains connected to the vine. As people of faith, the same is true for us, if we want to be fruitful, we must remain connected to the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Thought for Today: You need to abide in order to produce fruit.

Have a blessed day and walk inn faith and victory.
