He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn away from doing what was right. 2 Kings 22:3 NKJV
This words were talking about eight year old Josiah when he became king in Jerusalem. I’m quite sure his actions shocked everyone because his father was an evil king. 2 Kings 21:22 says,” He abandoned the Lord, the God of his ancestors, and he refused to follow the Lord’s ways.” He was so evil that his officials killed him. But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah the next king. It would have been easy for Josiah to continue in the tradition of his father and grandfather but Josiah choose to chart a different course. He chose to do what pleased God.
There comes a time in each life when that question surfaces and a choice has to be made. That choice requires that men choose to walk in the ways of the Lord. When Joshua was at the end of his life, he challenged the people, he said, “Serve the Lord alone. But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:14-15. Joshua chose to walk with God and serve Him.
Thought for Today: Make the right choice: walk with God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Do the right thing. Serve God
