Homecoming!

“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has injured us; now he will bandage our wounds. In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence. Hosea 6:1-2 NLT.

The nation was in turmoil and there was judgment in the land. Hosea lifted up his voice and said, “Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel! The Lord has brought charges against you, saying: “There is no faithfulness, no kindness, no knowledge of God in your land.” Chapter 4:1. God was displeased with His people. As a result, God withdrew his blessing from them. The problem was great; when people sinned, God would use the priest in their office to bring about change. But the priests had compromised themselves, and are unable to lead effectively. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.”

Hosea looked at their condition and had an unexpected response. He decided that the best course of action, was to return to God. Yes, they have been punished, but loving parents punish their children to correct their misdirection. The punishment they administered, does not mean that they will abandon their children. Hosea understood that God was merciful, and although He punished them, He loved them and would accept them when they returned to Him in repentance. God does not change; He is still a merciful God. When you walk away from Him and do your own thing, yes there will be consequences for wrongdoing but He will bandage your wounds and your relationship will be restored when you return to Him

Thought for Today: All you need to do is return.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
