But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 NIV
Treasure Hunters! That is a topic you see everywhere. There are books written about those who believe that there is buried treasure at the bottom of the ocean. In some stories, the treasure is a cave from ancient civilization. And there are many other locations for these hidden treasures. But, they do make interesting stories. Some stories are set way in the past, some in the present and believe it or not, some can be set in the future. All these characters have one thing in common; they want to find the treasure because they believe it would make them rich. So they put everything they have into finding the hidden treasure.
Jesus told His followers to seek God’s Kingdom first. In other words, let the kingdom be a priority in your life. When these treasure hunters are on a mission, they would use everything they have to secure that earthly treasure. Sometimes they are sad when they arrive at their destination because what they expected is not what they found. But God’s kingdom is not like that. His kingdom far surpasses anything you can imagine. But God expects you to put Him first. He is not an afterthought or a diversion; God and His kingdom must be first.
There are blessings when you put God first. When you put Him first, He will bless you. There are many people who want you to put them first but their motive is to use you and abuse you. But not God! When you put God first, He responds by blessing you. Amos gives an example of that blessing in 9:13, “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills.” Wine flowing from the hills; that is a blessing! If you want to reap those kinds of blessings, put God first.
Thought for Today: Friend, God blesses those who put Him first
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Let God be the first and last in everything we do…AMEN.
