“How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! 2 Samuel 7:22 NLT
Praise! The Bible dictionary tells us, that we declare God’s worth when we give Him praise. So it’s not uncommon to hear people using praise words in our services. Some people say, hallelujah; others say, glory; then some use words of thanksgiving to express their praise to God. In our everyday lives, we praise people for their service to us. We say thanks to the teacher who went above and beyond to help our child; we show appreciation to the friend who helped us during our time of need.
One day, King David was at home in his palace. He appreciated its beauty and splendor and he began to think about the goodness of God. You see, he was experiencing a period of peace. When he thought about the Ark of God in a tent, he decided that he was going to do something about that. He contacted Nathan the prophet and told him about his plans. The prophet told him to go ahead. That same night God gave Nathan a message for the king.
God did not ask anyone to build a house for Him. But when God saw the willingness in David’s heart to honor Him, God made a covenant with David. God promised David that his throne will be secure forever. Saul did not earn that promise from God. God did not allow David to build the house but He told David that one of his descendants will build the temple for His name. When David heard the message from God, he gave God praise. He said, “There is no one like you.” In Psalm 89:6 the psalmist declared, “For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord?” When we look at the Lord and all He has done for us, we can also say, “Lord, there is no one like you!”
Thought for Today: Friend, our God is awesome!
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
God sees the heart and knows.
