God Fights For You

You have seen everything that God has done to these nations because of you. He did it because he’s God, your God. He fought for you. Joshua 23:3 MSG

There are times in life when people love to take credit for what they have done. Many have worked hard to make their dreams a reality. But even in those times, there are some things you cannot take credit for. Think of the child who wants to sell candy to the neighbors. The father called ahead and asked everyone he knew, to patronize his child. The child went from door to door and could not believe the reception he got from the houses he visited. He sold out all of his candy and he decided he needed more to satisfy the demand. He felt proud because he believed it was his pitch that made him a success. He never realized it was his father’s favor.

You know, God is just like that! He goes ahead of you and paves your way with favor. When you walked into the door of that employer, your knees were having fellowship; your heart was racing; and all sorts of strange things were happening in your body. But in the midst of the turmoil, a calm just covered you and in the end, you were successful. You might be tempted to take credit for your accomplishment but deep down inside you know that it was all God. Here Joshua wanted to remind the elders, leaders, judges and officers that their accomplishments came from the intervention of God.

Their history is a memorial to the faithfulness of God. When God did the miraculous in their lives, He told them to set up a memorial. The memorials are part of their history, Joshua 4:6 says,We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’” A memorial keeps the story alive for current and future generations. This ensures that the event will not be forgotten. I had to ask myself, “Claudette, do you have memorials in place in your life?” We need to erect memorials in our families. We need to tell the stories of the goodness and faithfulness of God in our lives. Let us not forget that it is God who gives victory.

Thought for Today: Friend, God will fight for you; He is the Lord of Hosts.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.

  1. Amen, yes He will do it. God does not promise us an easy time during this life in this world. But He does promise to fight our battles for us to deliver us from every trouble and affliction.
