God: My Strength

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song he has given me victory.” Isaiah 12:2 NLT

When children are young, their parents are invincible; at least they were in previous generations. These children would tell you that their father can conquer the lion in the jungle; that he was stronger than superman and smarter than batman. This generation has been exposed to so much technology that parents can only hope to come in a distant second. Who can compare to the characters in these video games? Parents have been reduced to mere mortal human beings.

But as people of faith, we have a heavenly Father and we can boast about Him. Children’s boast about their parents are not grounded in truth. One day they will realize that their father is a man and he would get old and would be in of need help to perform the smallest task.  Chapter 40 verse 28 says, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” We can boast in the strength of our God. When Moses found himself safely on the other side of the Red Sea, He said in Exodus 15:2, “The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him!” Moses experienced the power of God in his life.

Like Moses, we have experienced the power of God in our lives. First, God has saved us from the penalty of sin.  Romans 6:23 says, “ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Once we acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord, and accept His gift of eternal life, we are saved from the penalty of our sin.  Many of us have experienced the power of God to heal our bodies. Isaiah 53:5 NKJV  says, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Trust Him and He will bring wonderful change into your life.

Thought for Today: Friend, God is amazing: we can have confidence in Him.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
