God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10 NLT

I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love to receive gifts. There are times in your life when you know that gifts are forth coming; then there are the unexpected gifts. Those gifts come from people whose hearts are full of gratitude for services rendered. You did not offer your help because you were expecting a reward. When you receive a simple token from someone who has a little but a heart full of gratitude, it’s just precious.

God has given gifts to all; He has His own criteria for bestowing gifts. Isaiah understood the gift of God in his life. In chapter 51:4 he said, “The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.”  Isaiah identified the gift, its purpose and how God keeps the gift active in his life. His gift was given to minister to the weary. Why? God cares about what is happening in your life.

Now Solomon gives some insight about how the gives are administered. Ecclesiastes 2:26 says, “God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.”  So God gives gifts to those who please Him. However, it doesn’t mean that God would give you a gift that is beyond your ability to manage. In Matthew 25, you can read about the man who gave gifts to his servants to manage: one five talents, another two and the last servant, one.

When you receive a gift from God, you have the responsibility to manage that gift correctly. 1 Corinthians 4:7 says, “For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?” If God has blessed you with a gift, do not become lifted up in pride. The gift that God has bestowed in your life was given to you to use in the service of the Lord. So serve well as you walk in your gifting. Then, you will honor God with your gift.

Thought for Today: Friend, God gives gifts for service.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
