God’s Reward Is Sure

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Hebrews 6:10 NLT

When children experience hurt because they were treated unfairly, parents choose to either comfort them or toughen them up. Some parents empathize with the child and validate their feelings. While some parents tell the child that life is not fair so there no need to cry. Whatever choice the parents made, I believe they did what they thought was in the best interest of their child.

People of faith, are expected to serve others as they serve God. In the world, you receive payment for your service as the job dictates. So before you leave your home, you already know the pay date that will cover the services you are going to provide on that day. When you are doing the work of ministry, serving others, there is no stated time for you to expect a blessing. However, that should not influence your actions.

In the Book of Esther, there is an example of a delayed blessing that arrived on time. One day, Mordecai, the Jew, heard some men plotting to assassinate the king. He was a captive in Persia. It would have been easy to stay clear of that event but Mordecai chose to do what was right; he warned the king.  He was not rewarded for his actions but his good deed was recorded. Sometime later, a wicked man plotted to destroy all the Jews so that he could kill Mordecai. One night when the king couldn’t sleep he asked for the chronicles to be read. He was reminded of the kindness of Mordecai. He honored him and that wicked man died on the gallows that he prepared for Mordecai.

Sometimes, like Mordecai, it seems that no one remembers your kindness. Don’t be alarmed. This does not mean that your service has little or no value. Mark 9:41 says, “If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I tell you the truth, that person will surely be rewarded.” So even if it feels like no one appreciates your service, continue. God is not unjust; He will step into your life at just the right time and reward you.

Thought for Today: Friend, God will not forget anything you do in service for Him.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
