Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too. John 14:6 TPT
Life often takes you to unknown places: some are interesting and some are not. Long ago, people had to use paper directions to go from one place to the next. With modern technology, it’s not difficult to travel to unknown places near or far. The GPS has made us all neighbors. I can sit in my car and travel to your home anywhere in the continental USA. The directions are on my GPS.
There are some directions that cannot be found on the GPS. Over the years, man has developed his own directions to cultivate a relationship with God. Many people believe that they can earn favor with God by doing good deeds. While good deeds are an extension of your walk with God, it is not the way to God. When one of the disciples asked Jesus about the way, He responded that He is the Way. In other words, Jesus is the road that leads to God. In life, you can use different roads to arrive at my house, but Jesus is the only road that leads to God.
He is the Truth. The legal system is always in search of truth; unfortunately, may external things change “truth”. For many, truth is based on their affiliation and background. When truth is tainted by your experiences it’s no longer truth but your point of view. In John 1:17 NKJV says, “ For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” So your quest for truth is not found in your affiliations and your life experiences but in the word of God.
He is the Life. Most people want to live to a ripe old age. They value life and would do all in their power to live and enjoy it as much as possible. But, the life that Jesus referred to here is not your physical life. He is the source of everlasting life. 1 John 5:12 says, “Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son does not possess eternal life.” If you want to receive eternal life, Jesus is the only way. Every other way would fail because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
