God is Omnipresent!

Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the Lord. “No, I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord. Jeremiah 23:23-24 NLT

I heard a story from one of my Sunday School teachers when I was a child. She told us that when she was a child, she tried to hide from God. So she went downstairs in the basement of her house and she closed all the doors and windows; then she shut off the lights. She thought in the darkness that God couldn’t see her. But, as she looked around, she discovered a ray of sunshine that was present in the room and so she concluded that she cannot hide from God.

There are many people today who believe that they can hide from God. David thought that same thing also. However, he discovered, just like my Sunday School teacher that God is Omnipresent. In Psalm 139 David reflected that God’s presence was everywhere. David said that if he went to heaven, God was there; if he went to the grave, God was there. “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!” Psalm 139:7.

There are many people who travel all over the globe; going to this event or that event. However, if you ask them the purpose of their trip, they cannot explain it; it was just something to do.  God is not idle; there is purpose in everything He does. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.” God is watching what you do; He is looking at everybody. He is not looking to see how well you coordinated your wardrobe; He is looking at the hearts of men. “If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread our hands in prayer to foreign gods, God would surely have known it, for he knows the secrets of every heart.” Psalm 44:20-21. Nothing is hidden from the eyes of the Lord.

We live in a world where someone is always collecting information. As a matter of fact, I wish that they would collect less information about me. I hate that Google timeline report. When God collects my information, He is not looking for a review; He is searching out the condition of my heart. My words and my attitude will tell Him all He needs to know. My friends, we cannot hide from God: He is Omnipresent; He is everywhere.
