Have you ever been in a situation where you were made a promise and it never materialized? Well, I remember when I was a child I had an experience just like that. Someone came to visit and they said that when they returned home that they would send me a new book bag. I was so excited! I really did expect that new book bag. But when days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, I had to face the reality that my new bag was not coming.
You see, I trusted the adult and my expectations were based on that trust. Unfortunately, life is like that. There are some who blatantly lie to you and there are others who have good intentions but life happens and you are disappointed. So does that mean that life is a journey with untrustworthy people? Certainly not! I’m quite sure that you have been disappointed and have disappointed someone also.
Now David, it seems, had some similar experiences in his life so he said in Psalm 118:8 NKJV, It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.” That was my mistake; I placed my confidence in man. But God is not like that; if you are in trouble you can call on Him. Psalm 34:6 says, “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.” In the time of trouble, look to God.
David had many experiences when he had to look to God, so he was able to say with confidence, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19. Whatever is happening in your life, You don’t have to worry and fret because the same God who delivered David out of his crisis, is able to deliver you. He is not like the adult who promised a book bag and never delivered. He said, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2. Don’t be afraid; He will deliver you.
Thought for Today: Friend, in trouble, trust God!
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Let’s keep our focus on God.
