In the world today many people depend on many things to enjoy success. There are those who believe that money is all they need, and they will do anything legal or illegal to get as much as they can. They believe that access to money is necessary to enjoy a full life. It’s usually not surprising when we hear about the downfall of a life built on striving after money.
Others believe that power is the number one thing. They seek power so they can oppress the poor and bully the powerless. They forget what the Bible says in Proverbs 22: 22-23 NLT, “Don’t rob the poor just because you can, or exploit the needy in court. For the Lord is their defender. He will ruin anyone who ruins them.”
David saw things differently. He said, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7 AMP. Today the chariots and horses could be replaced with power and money. Countless times people drunk with both, loose everything and sometimes even their own lives. There are so many benefits when we trust God. Verse 1 says ‘May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble.’ If that was the only promise, it would definitely be enough. But there is so much more!
Personally, I choose to trust in God because having chariots and horses without God would not satisfy the longing in the heart. Ecclesiastes 12:1 reminds us, “Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” That is the end result when you crave power and money. You see, when I trust God, the possibilities are endless! He can give me a chariot and a horse; chariots and horses or allow me to live like I have chariots and horses. Even if I never have a chariot or a horse, it is still better to trust in God. Real success comes from Him.
Thought for Today: Friend, just put your trust in God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
