We all like to know that there is someone listening when we call. Sometimes, we need help because trouble has reared its ugly head in our lives. Maybe, we are sick and in need of care so when we call we want someone to respond. Or, we might need help to perform a task. When doctors are performing surgery, there are many others in the operating room who are not surgeons. When the doctor needs a specific tool he calls for it and there is someone who will make sure he gets it.
But what do you do when you need help that is beyond the capacity of man to provide? Who do you call? There was a time the answer would be, Ghohstbusters! But fictional characters do not have the answer. When we need help, 1 John 5:14-15 NLT, tells us, And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
It’s so encouraging to know that God hears our prayers. Sometimes, as humans, we seem to treat God as a slot machine. We want to put in as few prayers and hit the jackpot. But that is not the way it works. This scriptures says if we ask for anything that pleases Him. So how do we know when something pleases God? The same way we find out what pleases those around us, we listen to what they say about the matter. It’s the same with God; when we take the time to study His word then we will know what pleases Him.
