Today, everyone is concerned about safety, especially when we hear so many stories about people losing their lives while shopping or working in school. Well, in many areas of life we have safety agents to keep us safe from the things that harm us. Many times they lose their lives as they perform their duties to ensure our safety.
We put a lot of effort into protecting our families and possessions, but are they the only things that need protection? Proverbs 4:23 TPT informs us that there is something we need to protect. It says, “So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.”
There is a reason why we are warned to guard our hearts. The heart is the seat of our emotions. The heart is like a garden and we are the gardeners. Just like gardens, people will judge the kind of gardener we are. If we are diligent, we will have a beautiful garden, free of weeds and destructive plants. If we are careless, the weeds of hatred, bitterness, pride and envy will live and flourish in our garden. So let us take the time and use prayer and the Word of God to tend the garden of our hearts.
Thought for Today: Friend, what is flourishing in your garden?
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Lord help me to keep my heart pure.
