We live in a world where people seek the company of those who would say good things to them. We like to listen to words that make us seem grand. Truth be told, there is a desire in each one of us to hear words that express we are appreciated by those around us. Sadly, there are those who express appreciation, but their words are not from the heart.
We are admonished to give praise to God. Psalm 92:1-2 tells us, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.” This is not the kind of words we use when we want to influence someone to do things our way. When we talk about praising God we want to extol in words or song; to magnify; to glorify on account of perfections or excellent works. We want to praise Him for who He is and what He has done.
In Psalm 111:1 David said, “Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people.” As he continued, he explained why he was giving thanks. He thanked God for His works. (Psalm 111:2) He thanked God for His faithfulness. (Psalm 111:5) He thanked God for His mighty power. (Psalm 111:6).
We likewise need to praise God with our whole heart because we have just as many reasons to give him thanks. Sometimes we want to wait for the big things before we are thankful. We don’t recognize how blessed we are. Let us start now and here acknowledge His goodness in our lives. The little things we take for granted can become big things if they are removed from our lives. “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.” Psalm 111:10.
Thought for Today: Friend, just praise God.
Have a blessed day and walk min faith and victory.
