Do You Trust God?

Trouble! This reminds me of David! The little boy who was always causing trouble in the books by David Shannon. The stories are funny when we read about his escapades. I can’t help but wonder if he was my son if I would be so amused about his antics, probably not!

Well in Psalm 25 David found himself in a predicament. These issues that confront us can be challenging at times. What do you do? Some get discouraged and feel trapped believing that there is no way out. Others refuse to accept what is happening and wonder around in denial. Then there are those who do what David did; David went to God in prayer. “To you, O Lord, I offer my prayer;  in you, my God, I trust. Save me from the shame of defeat; don’t let my enemies gloat over me! ( Psalm 25:1-2 GNT)  In the beginning of his prayer, David talks about his trust in God.

What does it mean to trust God? The dictionary defines trust as confidence; a  reliance or resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, friendship, or other sound principle of another person. In other words, David had confidence that the God he served was able to rescue him. But as we read Psalm 25, we can see that David also used this time in prayer to look to God for direction. He said, “Teach me your ways, O Lord; make them known to me. Teach me to live according to your truth, for you are my God, who saves me. I always trust in you.” (verses 4-5)

This is encouraging. We don’t have to cave in when adversity raises its ugly head in our life. We can be confident in God’s ability to deliver and preserve us. In those moments we can do what David did and seek direction from God.

Thought for Today: Friend: in every season of life, trust God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
