It’s Time for Change!

As we look around us, we must admit that that our experiences are not what we desire. Children killing parents and parents killing children; we are losing our daughters in large numbers because men, young and old have no value for their lives. We are seeing people in need of help denied services because the wealthy have priority and a segment of the population struggles. The cry from people everywhere is that we need change.

The dictionary defines change as exchanging one thing for another. We don’t have to be a historian to recognize change; we can look around us  and recognize that what we used to be no longer exists. As a child, respect for my elders was non-negotiable; it didn’t matter if that elder was a stranger. We honored our parents and lived by their guidelines; however, we have exchanged that mindset and now parents seek approval from their children because children rule. The Bible tells us, “Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 AMP).

The military takes the time to train their recruits before they can serve. Without going through the process of exchanging their way of thinking to what the military demands, they cannot become successful. The front line in the change we want to see begins in the home. Billy Grahaam said, “One of the worst things we can do is to allow our children to grow up thinking they don’t need to keep any rules.”  Ephesians 6:1 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord [that is, accept their guidance and discipline as His representatives], for this is right [for obedience teaches wisdom and self-discipline].” I pray that we will recognize the need for change.

Thought for Today: Friend, be the change you want to see.
