Loving God’s Way

The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27 NLT

One day as Jesus went about His work of ministry, He was stopped by a religious leader who wanted to test Him. He wanted to know how to inherit eternal life. Instead of answering the question, Jesus asked him a question of his own about what is written in the law. His response makes it clear that the way to eternal life is through love. First, you must love God, and love your neighbor as you love yourself.

In Deuteronomy 10:12 it says, “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul.” When you love God it impacts the way you live. It changes the way you think and the way you respond to things happening around you.

When you love God, that love makes it easier to love your neighbor as yourself. So how do you demonstrate love for your neighbor? Jesus used the example of the Good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan found a man who was attacked by robbers.  The religious men in the community saw him but did not stop to offer help. A Samaritan stopped and offered help, then out of his pocket, he paid the man’s room and board during recovery. Now that is not easy.  Loving your neighbor as yourself means going the extra mile. Are you willing to go the extra mile in your walk with God?

Thought for Today: Love God and love others

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
