Turn to Him

The Lord isn’t slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn’t want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act. 2 Peter 3:9 GW

As we look around in the world today, we often hear people wonder about God and His actions. We hear comments like how long will God allow this to happen? You see, we have a tendency for swift justice when we think intervention is needed. But God does not work with man’s time. Acts 13:23 says, “God had the Savior, Jesus, come to Israel from David’s descendants, as he had promised.

Instead, He is being patient with us. Psalm 78:38 says, “But he is compassionate He forgave their sin. He did not destroy them. He restrained his anger many times. He did not display all of his fury.” It is not His desire to destroy us. He wants to have fellowship with us so He is patient in His judgment. It’s God’s desire to give each one the opportunity to experience eternal life.

The credit system has a term for granting the borrower leniency when they are unable to meet their obligation according to their contract. It’s called forbearance. The creditor has the right to enforce the penalty for delinquency but does not. Psalm 103:8 says, “The Lord is compassionate, merciful, patient, and always ready to forgive”. That speaks to God’s divine character. He wants to give everyone the opportunity to turn to Him.

Thought for Today: God wants you to change the way you think and act

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
