He Revives My Life

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Psalm 23:3 NKJV

Psalm 23 is referred to as the Shepherd’s Psalm. It gives an account of the shepherd taking care of the sheep. There are many things a shepherd has to consider when he takes the sheep out in the morning. He needs green grass for grazing since the sheep will be grazing for about 8 hours a day. He needs to find still waters because active water can weigh down the wool and cause harm to the sheep. So David demonstrated great knowledge about caring about the sheep in the field.

David also understood that the Lord cares for His children just as a shepherd cares for his sheep. David knew the importance of knowing his sheep. He knew those who were easily distracted and would often walk away from the flock. Just like sheep, people of faith become lost. They can drift away from the Shepherd and become distracted by the things of the world. When the sheep lose their focus, the shepherd goes and searches for them and brings them back to the fold. In the same way, when we drift away and get distracted with the cares of life, the Shepherd comes and ministers to us. We can return to the fellowship we enjoyed. We experience restoration; we are back in the fold.

Thought for Today: The Lord restores my soul

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
