Blessed and Overflowing

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Psalm 23:5 NLT

The dictionary defines prepare as to make ready before hand. There are many times in life people make things ready. When parents are informed that a baby is on the way, they don’t wait until the baby arrives to get all the things that a baby needs. They prepare for the baby before he or she arrives. So this tells that before you even recognize you have a need, the Shepherd is making preparation while your enemies are present.

But it doesn’t end there. He anoints your head with oil. Oil signifies blessings and prosperity. The oil also represents the presence of God. There are so many issues people face on a daily basis and some of them could be overwhelming. So the shepherd anoints your head with oil. David remembered the change in his life when Samuel anointed him in 1 Samuel 16:13 because the Spirit of the Lord came over David and stayed with him from that day on.

Then you experience the overflow.  When David looked at the blessing of God on his life, he saw the blessings of overflow. He came to the shepherd with an empty cup but his cup was not filled, it was overflowing. The Shepherd is able to fill the emptiness in your life to overflowing if you would let him. The Shepherd makes ready before hand.

Thought for Today: The Shepherd prepares and provides

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
