Not Alone

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 NLT

The end of another year! 2020 has been a year like no other and it will be these experiences that we will talk about for the remainder of our lives. But as difficult as this year has been, it came to an end.  Covid-19 has not lost its sting but the goodness of God has triumphed over Covid-19. It seemed like David got a glimpse into the year 2020 when he said, “Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.” Psalm 91:7. But for the goodness of God, we are not numbered with those who fell victim to the virus.

You might be wondering what caused David to sing this song of praise. Well David built a special tent to house the Ark of God. When the building was completed, they moved the Ark into the tent. That was the cause of the celebration. The Ark symbolized God’s presence with them so there was great rejoicing in the community. When Jesus came, He said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” That should be the source of celebration in our lives. So we learned in 2020, that God is our defense. In the face of uncertainty, we can join the Psalmist and say, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”  This is the mindset to enter 2021. David had the Ark but we have the presence of God. So let us give thanks to the Lord.

Thought for Today: I am not alone: The Lord is with me.

Have a blessed day and wa;lk in faith and victory.
