Power and Glory

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:13 NKJV

Everyone faces temptation in their life but the power to overcome temptation does not lie in us. So it is important for us to seek help from God.  He will give us strength to stand in the time of temptation and deliver us from evil. Next comes the doxology. The dictionary defines doxology as an expression of praise to God. As a child when I went to church with my grandmother they sang The Doxology at the end of every service. It begins with, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow.” This doxology begins with, ‘For Yours is the kingdom.”  God has dominion over His kingdom. He has control and can order things to answer our prayers.

You see God is sovereign; He is in complete and total control.  He has the power to accomplish what we ask. Psalm 62:11 says, “God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.“ We stand in awe of His might works. David said, “May the glory of the Lord continue forever!  Psalm 104:31. When God shows up on our behalf the glory belongs to Him. When others see or hear of His goodness, His kingdom is spread  through the earth.

He ended His prayer with Amen. This is a verb, a word of action. When you say Amen, you are expressing consent. You are saying certainly, so be it. There is a reason this model was included in the Bible. It is meant to teach us how to pray. We should strive to follow this model as much as we can when we pray.

Thought for Today: God answers when we pray His way.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
