Loving God’s Way

Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” James 2:8 NLT

Have you ever seen someone and immediately you knew that this person loves himself a lot. There are individuals who spend a lot of time during the day fixing themselves so that at every given moment, they are at their best.  Well as a society, we don’t want to indulge in self love  publicly. It’s alright to stand in front of the mirror for an hour to get dressed for work, but in public you have to be careful not to be openly self absorbed. Jesus knew that humans place great value on themselves. You see, we treat ourselves to the best things we can afford.

Jesus didn’t chastised the people in the community for the level of their self love; He told them that they need to have that same level of love for their neighbor. Sometimes, that is not so easy to do. It’s easy to do right when we love God; it also makes it easier to love our neighbor as ourselves. This allows us to put ourselves in our neighbor’s shoes. What we don’t want for ourselves, we should not do or want to our neighbor.

I have never heard of someone with a sound mind being derogatory about their own life. So if we love and treat others the way we treat ourselves; or the way we would like others to treat us, we would change the world. Walking right before God demands that we love our neighbor the same way as we love ourselves.

Thought for Today: Friend, love your neighbor the way you want others to love you

Have a blessed day and walk on faith and victory.
