Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. Psalm 127:1 NLT
The airwave is full of companies who want you to believe that they are the answer to your security needs. They promise you the world but they are limited in their ability to protect you. One day a teenager came home from school and while he was walking up the walkway to his house, the security alarm went off. That fearless teenager proceeded to open the door, go inside and shut off the alarm. Sometime later, the family discovered that while that fearless teenager was opening the front door, the thieves that set the alarm off decided to flee through the back door. The security system failed but God preserved his life.
We live in a world where everyone needs help. Like the security company, there are those who would like you to believe that their help is all you need. David discovered that he couldn’t depend on man when he was in distress. While those around him were searching for answers, David declared in Psalm 121:2, “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” David didn’t get up one morning and penned these verses from a dream. No! These words came from his experiences with God. As a teenager, he faced Goliath on the battlefield. Grown men were running away from Goliath but David fought him in battle. David didn’t depend on man’s armor, he trusted God. He knew from his past experiences that God was with him and he would defeat the enemy.
When you are in a crisis, where do you look for help? People have a variety of ways to help them when life gets tough. Some turn to alcohol; some to drugs and many other things. But friend, that does not have to be your story. You can say like David that the Lord is my help. David went on to say in Psalm 91:7, “Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.” This verse came to life in 2020 for many, because people were dying all around them with Covid-19, but God preserved and protected them. When you feel overwhelmed with the issues in life, remember David and all that he went through and say like him, “My help comes from the Lord.”
Thought for Today: Friend, when life is uncertain, you can trust in God to protect you.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Even when life seems bad, God got our backs.
