Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV
There are some events in your life that happen only once. You would wish that it would happen again but unfortunately it wouldn’t. It doesn’t matter how long you wait or how hard you look, the event will not return. When I was about six years old, I remember one day there was a lot of air traffic in the sky. I was so amazed! I stood and stared; I had never seen so many planes and other things in the sky, I remember looking into the sky for many years longing for that display to be repeated but it never happened.
David had a few events like that! When he fought Goliath, it was a once in a lifetime event. But that was not his only once in a lifetime event. When Israel traveled from the Red Sea to the Promised Land, God told Moses in Exodus 25:8, “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” The people were required to give a willing offering to contribute the items needed to build the Ark. The Ark represented God’s presence with them.
When the Ark of the Covenant was completed, the Ten Commandments was placed inside. When they crossed the Jordan, the Ark went before them; when they marched around Jericho, the Ark went before them. When they subdued their enemies in Canaan, they sent up the Tabernacle in Shiloh and placed the Ark inside. While Eli was the High Priest, the Philistines captured the Ark. They considered the Ark a trophy and placed it with their God. But every morning, they found the idol they worshipped in distress; also, God punished the Philistine community and they sent then Ark away.
So King David, brought the Ark to the Tabernacle that he built for it. They celebrated! They burnt offerings and David blessed the people; then, they spent some time worshipping God. This was a once in a lifetime event and it was a very special moment in their lives. David sang a song of thanksgiving. So, when you experience the goodness of God in your life, you should give thanks. Sometimes, people have a tendency to forget but the goodness of God, is something to never take for granted.
Thought for Today: Friend, in everything, give thanks.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
His goodness is good all the time.
