Have you ever been in a crowed store and with one clerk and you are trying to get his or her attention? It feels like Mission: Impossible. You raise your voice, and you wave your hands, but it is of no avail. You must decide if you want to remain in that place hoping to get what you want or should you leave because it’s useless.
It can be very frustrating to ask and inquire about an item or an issue without being heard. When we come before God in prayer, we need to know that He hears us. 1 John 5:14-15 LB, “And we are sure of this, that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we really know he is listening when we talk to him and make our requests, then we can be sure that he will answer us.”
One thing we must remember when we pray, our prayer must align with the will of God. God will not answer us if we pray outside of His will. “And even when you do ask you don’t get it because your whole aim is wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” (James 4:3) This does not mean that God is against us having a good time, but we must remember what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 NLT, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
It’s God desire that we give Him first place in our lives. When He is first, our desires will be His desires; so, when we pray, we are praying that His will be done. When we do that, the Bible says that He will give us everything we need.
Thought for Today: Friend, seek the Kingdom of God above all else.
