Sometimes, when we are in conversation with others and we don’t seem to have their attention, we ask: “Are you hearing me?” Usually, the response is yes and there would be more attention given to the conversation.
One of the promises we have in prayer is that God hears. 1 John 5:15 NLT says, “And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.” The dictionary defines hear as to perceive with the ear the sound made by (someone or something). But when God says He hears when we make our requests, it means so much more. You see when God hears, He pays attention and takes notice.
What does that mean for us? Well, 2 Samuel 22 is a song of thanksgiving. David went to God in his time of trouble; he said, “But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I cried to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry reached his ears.” (verse 7) David knew that God is not a passive listener. God listens to us with the intent to take notice and act.
When David reflected on the goodness of God and how God delivered him in his time of trouble, he had to give thanks. What are you facing that feels overwhelming and you don’t know what to do? The situation is not hopeless, there is help in God. He took the time to take notice of David in his time of distress and He will take notice of you.
Thought for Today: Friend, God pays attention and takes notice.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
He is a good, good Daddy.
