In many groups and organizations, they strive for unity. In music, sometimes all the participants of a group or choir sing the exact same note, even if they must sing in different octaves; in other words, they are singing in unison. The objective is to have the sound of one voice.
In the family of faith, unity should be our objective. Why? When Jesus prayed before going to the cross, He said, I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. (John 17:21 NLT) The New Testament church began in unity: they worshipped together; broke bread together and shared meals together, (Acts 2:46)
There is power in unity. Anything noteworthy that happens in any walk of life, happens because people worked together. Some work together for good and some for evil. When the walls of Jericho fell. The people worked together; they followed the directions of their leader. I believe it must have been difficult to march around the wall without muttering a word, but they did it for seven days. The seventh day must have been extremely difficult because they had to march around the city seven times. They were unable to say they were tired, or their feet hurt because the silence allowed them to focus on the task.
Let us work together to build the kingdom of God. It does not mean that we must sacrifice our individuality to have one voice in the kingdom of God. It means that we will come together focusing on Matthew 28:19; Jesus said: Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Then we would experience success because we would be working together in unity.
Thought for Today: Friend, let’s focus on what unites us instead of what divides us.
