Injustice! It has become so common place in our society that we have lost the sensitivity to what it means in the lives of those around us. Injustice in the life of an individual speaks about undeserved hurt, unfairness, or underserved outcomes. We might be led to believe this is purely something left to legal arena, but closer investigation would indicate that it can also apply to our personal relationships in the family, community and even in the family of faith.
1 Corinthians 13:6 AMP says, “It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].” Love, then, does not take pleasure in injustice. The love Paul describes is rooted in our love for God. This love is so powerful that Jesus said, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:35 NLT). Why is love so important? God loved humanity enough to send His Son to pay a debt we could never repay. Jesus laid down His life willingly because of His love for us. Since God is the source of love, genuinely loving Him will transform the way we relate to others. As Matthew Henry observed, brotherly love is the badge of Christ’s disciples.
There is no lack of unfair people perpetuating their evil on those who are powerless to defend themselves. The society celebrates these individuals but how does God see those who inflict underserved outcomes on others? God is not happy with the wicked and their wickedness. Let us work on our love for God; God’s love in our hearts will rejoice when truth triumphs.
Thought for Today: Friend, your love for God will transform how you treat others.
