Pharaoh’s officials now came to Pharaoh and appealed to him. “How long will you let this man hold us hostage? Let the men go to worship the Lord their God! Don’t you realize that Egypt lies in ruins?” Exodus 10:7 NLT
Employees many times have difficulty making their voices heard. The world is a place where your title or status dictates how well people would pay attention to what you have to say. If you are the president of the company then everyone listens when you speak. If you work in a department, where you are an expert, in the process of producing a specific item that is instrumental in the production process; the president will seek out an expert who would sit and interview you to determine what can be done to improve the product instead of going to you directly.
So Pharaoh has decided that he will do this thing, his way. His staff members were having difficulty with his decisions. What do you do when your leader puts his personal agenda ahead of what’s best for everyone? God said to Pharaoh, “Let my people go to worship me.” With every negative response, there was a consequence. The consequences were destroying Egypt. His executive staff was pleading with him to comply and allow the people to leave because the plagues were devastating.
For Pharaoh, it became a power trip. He did not care about the citizens he was there to serve; he didn’t care about the condition of the country; he cared only about himself. He was selfish and self-serving! History has taught us that when people follow selfish, self-serving leaders, the result can sometimes be deadly. Pharaoh refused to submit to the mighty power of God and as a result, his country was being destroyed.
True greatness can never be achieved on the wings of selfishness. Great leaders care about the wellbeing of the people they serve. If you are loyal to a leader who cares nothing about your wellbeing, maybe you need to reconsider your choices. Jesus, our example, was great because He was willing to give His life as a ransom for us. If you want to be great, where you are, care about others and while you might not be famous, you will definitely be great!
Thought for Today: Friend, examine the leader’s agenda.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Trust God to lead.
